Without doubt the most famous and lauded of Cornwall-based artists, was the sculptor and artist Barbara Hepworth. Celebrated in St Ives' Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, a stone's throw from our gallery, and of course in the Tate St Ives. Hepworth's chief assistant and a highly accomplished sculptor in his own right was Denis Mitchell (1912-1993). This section of our website will feature works by Mitchell and by the indomitable Elisabeth Frink (1930 -1993), who was based for much of her career in nearby Dorset - and maybe one day, by Ms Hepworth.
