The Tuke exhibition that was held at the Watts Gallery throughout the summer of 2021, is homeward bound this autumn with its move to the Falmouth Art Gallery. Here Tuke's most famous works, August Blue (1892, The Tate), Ruby, Gold and Malachite (1902, Guild Hall Art Gallery, London) and All Hands to the Pumps (1888, Tate Britain) are hung alongside works from the collection of Elton John and our own Shipbuilders (1883, Cornish Masters); plus solely for the Falmouth Art Gallery, the portrait of Sarah Ann Stevenson (1883, Cornish Masters) that was a study for Shipbuilders,
The exhibition is beautifully curated and runs in parallel to 'Freud, Minton, Ryan: Unholy Trinity’ Exhibition', featuring works by Lucien Freud, John Minton and the St Ives artist, Adrian Ryan.
All in all, if you can, Falmouth Art Gallery is well worth a visit this autumn.
